About The Salty Yogis
Our mission is to help surfers enhance their performance through the transformative power of yoga. By integrating yoga into their routine, surfers can boost flexibility, strength, and mental focus—key elements for flowing with ease and control on the waves.
We believe that surf and yoga are a perfect match, creating balance both in and out of the water. This connection not only refines physical ability but also deepens the bond with the ocean, the mind, and the body.
That’s why we’ve created resources to guide you on your journey to becoming a true surf-yogi—centered, strong, and in sync with the sea.
More then just poses
The Salty Yogis isn’t about mastering extreme poses—it’s about finding the same calm you experience while waiting for waves. Our goal is to bring mindful movement into your daily life, helping you cultivate presence and mental clarity.
Think of sitting on your board, watching the horizon. Your thoughts settle, your mind quiets. That’s the feeling we aim for with yoga and asanas—a still, focused mind. It’s not always easy, but with practice, self-respect, and breath control, it becomes natural.
Commit to stepping on the mat regularly, and you'll notice the shifts—greater flexibility, better mobility, and a clearer, more balanced mind.
Hi, we are Marina and Florianne, yoga teachers & students, surfers, lovers of nature and oceans, and growing our community.
Florianne
Avid goofy surfer & yogi, I am, originally from Belgium, I have learned surfing in Morocco and I’m now living in Belgium and Fuerteventura. And if not, traveling the world chasing waves.
I did my 200h Yoga Teacher Training in Rishikesh, in India in 2022, and I have never stopped practicing & teaching since then. My favorite style is Hatha Yoga (next to Yoga for Surfers of course). And I also trained in Yin Yoga and Pranayama.
I met with Joana in Arugam Bay, Sri Lanka in the beautiful long wave of Main Point in 2022, and from there it all started. I’m now dedicating my time and energy in The Salty Yogis and bringing both of my passions to this community.
Marina
I was born and raised in São Paulo, Brazil, but my life has taken me to some pretty amazing places. I’ve lived on the Gold Coast, San Diego, London, and now Lisbon.
My Japanese (and Buddhist) roots have deeply influenced my own path. This spiritual heritage is something I carry with me every day, guiding both my practice and my approach to life.
For me, yoga is moving meditation. It’s about being fully present in the moment, where feeling takes over thinking. Beyond the physical benefits, yoga has been a huge tool for developing self-awareness and connecting more deeply with myself.
I completed my 200-hour Vinyasa Yoga Teacher Training with Good Life Yoga School in London. After years of navigating the fast pace of city life, I decided to move to Portugal to live closer to the ocean.
The ocean’s rhythm and energy became the perfect complement to my practice, and I’m excited to share that magic with others.
